Ibu negara negara kecil ini ialah <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldclock.com\/asia\/bhutan\/time-in-thimphu\/\">Thimphu<\/a>, bahasa rasminya bahasa Dzongkha dan penduduknya lebih sedikit daripada 700,000 orang. Bhutan diasaskan oleh Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel pada tahun 1644. Bhutan sentiasa kekal sebagai negara merdeka walaupun tentera tetapnya kecil, hanya 16,000 orang askar. Bhutan tidak mempunyai tentera laut atau tentera udara.
