De munteenheid in Chili is de peso (CLP). Het merendeel van de Chileense bevolking is hoogopgeleid; minder dan 3 procent van de bevolking kan niet lezen of schrijven. Ongeveer 95 procent van de Chileense bevolking is blank en van gemengde Europese afkomst. Rundvlees, zeevruchten, fruit en groenten zijn allemaal populair in de Chileense keuken.
