How we detect your time zone
Your browser knows your device’s time zone setting – an IANA name such as Europe/London or Asia/Bangkok. Nothing is sent anywhere to work this out. If the result looks wrong, check the date & time settings on your device: “Set time zone automatically” should usually be switched on.
The UTC offset is how far your clock is ahead of or behind Coordinated Universal Time right now; it changes when your region switches to or from daylight saving time.
Frequently asked questions
What is my UTC offset?
Your current UTC offset is shown above, for example UTC+7 means your clock is 7 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time.
Why does my time zone show the wrong city?
Time zones are named after the largest city in the zone, so you will often see a nearby big city rather than your own town – it is still the correct time zone.
