Opening and closing bells

The opening bell marks the start of the regular trading session and the closing bell its end. On the New York Stock Exchange the bells ring at 9:30 and 16:00 Eastern Time, Monday to Friday. Many Asian exchanges also break for lunch, so they open twice a day – the countdown above includes the afternoon re-open.

Turn on the alert and keep this tab open: your browser will play a chime and show a notification when the bell rings. See every market’s hours side by side on the stock market hours page.
