The Ethiopian calendar
Ethiopia uses its own calendar with 13 months: twelve of 30 days and a short 13th month, Pagume, of 5 or 6 days. The new year, Enkutatash, falls on 11 September (12 September before a Gregorian leap year). Because of a different calculation of the birth of Christ, Ethiopian years are 7–8 years behind: 2026 A.D. covers 2018 and 2019 E.C.

Why is Ethiopia 7 years behind?
The Ethiopian Orthodox Church calculates the year of the Annunciation differently from the Western church, so its year count is 7 years behind from September to December and 8 years behind for the rest of the year.
