Why the moon rises at a different time every day
The moon moves about 13ยฐ along its orbit every day, so the Earth has to turn a little further each day to bring it back over the horizon. As a result moonrise is on average about 50 minutes later each day. Some days have no moonrise or no moonset at all. The full moon rises around sunset, the new moon rises with the sun, and the first-quarter moon rises around noon.
