About Phuket
Phuket is Thailand's largest island and one of Southeast Asia's best-known beach destinations, lying in the Andaman Sea on the country's west coast. Visitors come for beaches such as Patong, Kata and Karon, for diving trips to the Similan Islands and boat tours of Phang Nga Bay. Phuket Town also has an attractive old quarter of Sino-Portuguese shophouses.
Phuket uses Indochina Time, UTC+7, all year round, as Thailand has no daylight saving. The whole country shares this single zone, so Phuket always matches Bangkok, and also Hanoi and Jakarta. It is seven hours ahead of London in winter and six hours ahead during British Summer Time. Close to the equator, days stay roughly the same length all year.
