About Tehran
Tehran is the capital of Iran and the country's political, economic and cultural centre. It sits at the foot of the Alborz mountains, which offer skiing within reach of the city in winter, and it is known for its Grand Bazaar, royal palaces such as Golestan and its many museums.
Iran uses Iran Standard Time at UTC+3:30, one of the world's half-hour offsets. The country stopped observing daylight saving in 2022, so the time now stays the same all year. Friday is the main weekly day off, which should be borne in mind when planning business contact. Tehran is half an hour ahead of Moscow and half an hour behind Dubai.
