About Baku
Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan, set on the western shore of the Caspian Sea. Long tied to the oil and gas industry, it combines a walled old city with modern landmarks such as the Flame Towers, and hosts international events including a Formula 1 street race.
Azerbaijan uses Azerbaijan Time, UTC+4, all year round; the country stopped observing daylight saving some years ago. That puts Baku on the same time as Dubai and Tbilisi, and an hour ahead of Moscow and Istanbul. Baku is four hours ahead of London in winter and three hours ahead during British Summer Time.
