About Lisbon
Lisbon is the capital of Portugal, spread over hills on the estuary of the Tagus river near the Atlantic. Known for its trams, tiled façades, fado music and seafood, it has also become a popular base for start-ups, remote workers and conferences, as well as a major tourist destination.
Mainland Portugal uses Western European Time, UTC+0, and moves to Western European Summer Time, UTC+1, in summer. That keeps Lisbon on the same time as London and Dublin all year, but one hour behind Madrid and most of continental Europe. Note that the Azores sit an hour behind the mainland.
